I discovered Ibiza Cafe in downtown Frederick, Maryland, one day in late spring, early summer 2020. It wasn't yet open when I walked by, but I saw the sign and thought you'd have to be crazy to open a business during COVID!
Ibiza Cafe did, indeed, open for business on July 2nd. Lucky for us all, the owners May and Steve Buckingham are not crazy. They're shrewd owners of a now thriving, lively cafe. I have come to love Ibiza on several levels.
Quality: Single origin beans, and teas from a selectively chosen farm in Taiwan
Community: Pastries from local bakeries and beans roasted locally as well
Atmosphere: Tasteful decor, two spacious rooms and outdoor seating
Service: Gifted and friendly baristas (May and Steve work daily, too)
Essence: 'Home away from home,' nurturing if you're open to it, tasteful in every way
I'm spoiled. I live a stone's throw away, and the staff knows my name and order. I leave feeling better, like I've visited a friend whom I haven't seen since COVID. Go. Go support the best coffee spot in town. Seriously.
